The Birthing Pavilion at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center has been recognized as a Baby-Friendly® birth facility by Baby-Friendly USA, Inc., a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. There are more than 20,000 designated Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers worldwide but only 142 active Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers in the United States.

On our 18-bed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum) Unit, we deliver over 1,000 babies annually and on an average, 55% of our patients are high risk. Our nurses are cross trained in all aspects of obstetrical care within the Birthing Pavilion, including both high and low risk and the role of the circulator in the operating room. As a member of this highly collaborative team you will assess, plan, organize, supervise and make nursing judgments and decisions for our patients.
