Hematology/Oncology
Our Hematology-Oncology Units are part of Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC), one of the nation’s premier facilities for cancer treatment and research. The Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) is one of only 57 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.
Our hematology/oncology units are great places to work because you will be surrounded by staff who are passionate about their patients and the patient’s families, and the teamwork is remarkable. Patients are extremely motivated and invested in their care so they can get well, and it is amazing to see how many successfully beat cancer. There are unparalleled resources for patients here and also educational opportunities for nursing staff to enhance their clinical skills. We are supportive of one another and have a complete leadership team of 2 Clinical Supervisors, a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Leader as well as a Nurse Manager overseeing the two units.

Hematology/Oncology – Level 1 Wing D (L1WD)
In Fall 2026, the Inpatient Hematology/Oncology unit will move into the new Patient Pavilion at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. This state-of-the-art unit will feature 32 private rooms, expanded capacity for cellular therapy patients, an enlarged infusion suite, and thoughtfully designed spaces that support patients, families, and staff while reflecting the latest advances in oncology care.
Nurses specialize in caring for hematology and oncology patients, including those undergoing bone marrow transplantation, CAR T, and BiTE therapies. Patients are highly engaged in their care, and the unit is known for strong teamwork, supportive leadership, and exceptional staff retention.
New nurses are paired with a dedicated, one-to-one preceptor and complete a structured Clinical Reasoning Orientation Program designed to build confidence and clinical independence. Ongoing professional development includes chemotherapy training within the first year, with opportunities to advance into roles such as preceptor, infusion RN, cellular therapy RN, or charge nurse.
This is a rewarding opportunity for nurses who are intellectually curious, compassionate, and energized by complex care in a collaborative environment.
