The Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology & Medical Infusion provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving antineoplastic therapies and non-oncology infusions within the cancer center. This role supports safe, efficient patient throughput by utilizing Beacon treatment plans, ensuring labs are completed in advance, and initiating Ready to Treat workflows in collaboration with providers and pharmacy. The RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining strict adherence to oncology safety standards and organizational policies.

Patient Experience & Education

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care using structured communication (e.g., AIDET).
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management.
  • Support patients through complex oncology care with attention to emotional and psychosocial needs.
  • Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Minimum 1–2 years of nursing experience; oncology and/or infusion experience preferred
  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification required within established timeframe (e.g., Oncology Nursing Society provider course)
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) certification must be obtained between the second and third year of employment as a condition of continued practice in the oncology infusion role
  • Demonstrated competency in IV therapy, central line management, and hazardous medication administration

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking in a high-acuity outpatient oncology setting
  • Proficiency in EPIC/Beacon workflows and treatment plan management
  • Ability to manage patient flow and competing priorities in a fast-paced infusion environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
